Mar. 16, 2020

This American Life is thrilled to welcome Sarah Abdurrahman as its new Managing Editor.

Sarah comes to us from Gimlet Media, where she was a Senior Producer, and where she launched and ran a number of the company's shows. Most recently, Sarah was the Senior Producer for The Nod. In addition to running the podcast, Sarah worked on the team that adapted The Nod to video. She is co-executive producer of the forthcoming The Nod with Brittany and Eric on the mobile streaming service Quibi.

Before that, Sarah worked in public radio. She worked on WNYC's On the Media, where her reporting on Customs and Border Protection and the Department of Homeland Security won Gracie and Front Page Awards. She also received a Mirror Award for her work producing the show's reporting from Mexico during the country's 2012 elections.

Sarah is a graduate of The University of Texas, where she got a masters degree in media studies. After a brief post-graduate stint as a photographer, she found her way into public radio at member station WBUR in Boston. There, she started in the newsroom, and also worked on the nationally-syndicated talk show On Point with Tom Ashbrook.

As Managing Editor, Sarah will be a key part of the show's leadership team. She'll start at the end of March.
